What is a "SigFig"?

Hello everyone,

Since the question of what a "SigFig" actually is often comes up, I would like to explain it briefly in this post.

Within the LEGO community, "SigFig" stands for "Signature Figure". In short, it is meant to represent its creator in "LEGO form".
Many LEGO fans, myself included, try to represent themselves as accurately as possible using existing minifigure parts. However, this is not necessarily the case. A SigFig can also look completely different from its owner. Some don't even use minifigures—there are no limits to the imagination.
Here is a nice gallery with many different SigFigs from the community.

Personalization of SigFigs

To further personalize the figures, they are often printed with names and logos, usually using UV printing.

However, as the minifigure is one of the LEGO Group's last and most important protected trademarks, LEGO has been asking people to refrain from doing this for some time, especially with third-party logos. You can read more about this in this post by Promobricks.

Since then, many have decided to only use custom stickers on the figures or find other solutions. Here, for example, is the SigFig of Thomas, the head of BrickingBavaria, who has replaced most of the "minifigure parts", except for the printed ones, with normal bricks. For this reason, I also decided to use the Pods to personalize my SigFig.

SigFigs as business cards

SigFigs are also often used as a kind of business card and exchanged at meetings and exhibitions. This is a nice way to make new friends in the community and be remembered.
For example, in Skærbæk, where I was able to exchange some of my pods for other SigFigs in 2024:

Finally, I would like to introduce the SigFig gallery on my website here. Everyone I have traded with has the opportunity to upload a picture with our SigFigs. A few posts are already there, and I look forward to every new one.
